[작가 노트]
<꿈을 좇다>
모든 사람들의 최대 관심사는 자기자신일 것이다. 사람들은 자신을 돌보고 자기의 삶에 전념하는 일에 많은 시간과 열정을 쏟는다. 하지만 자신을 우선순위에 두고, 집중하며 살아가는 것은 생각보다 쉽지 않다. 시선을 외부와 타인으로부터 자신에게 돌리는 행위에도 용기와 훈련이 필요하며 이러한 훈련으로 연마된 사람은 진정한 자아와 일치하는 주체적인 삶을 살아갈 수 있을 것이다.
본인은 작품 속에 어떤 상황에서든지 자신을 먼저 배려하고, 살피고, 돌아보아 긍정적 자아감을 갖게 되기를, 더 나아가 타인에게 선한 영향력을 끼치는 삶을 살아가기를 염원하는 내용을 담고 있다. 작품 속에 등장하는 캐릭터는 위로하는 자, 격려자, 보혜사의 의미를 지니며 어떤 상황에 놓이더라도 곁에서 함께 응원하는 존재가 있음을 의미한다. 이러한 캐릭터와 풍선은 자칫 고독해 보일 수 있는 인물에 경쾌함을 더한다.
작품 속에 표정이 잘 드러나지 않는 인물을 한 명씩 배치한 것은 본인의 의도로 누구나 혼자 걸어가야 하는 인생의 고독한 단면을 나타내고 있다. 또한 이러한 인물은 감상자로 하여금 무슨 생각을 하고 있는지 무엇을 바라보고 있는지 상상의 여지를 남기는 매력이 있다고 생각되어 표현해 보았다. 본인은 잠시나마 감상자들이 작품 속 인물에 자신을 투영하여 자신의 꿈이 무엇이었는지, 그리고 현재 의도한 방향으로 잘 진행되고 있는지 자신의 삶을 잠시나마 돌이켜 볼 수 있는 계기가 되기를 기대해 본다.

Artist statement
<Follow Your Dreames>
Most people are engrossed in themselves. People devote most of their time and energy into whatever drives their lives to achieve their goals. However, it is easier said than done to prioritize oneself and to solely focus on living. Courage and practice are crucial to fully live one’s life and not be distracted by what other people think. Repeated training can allow one to live a self motivated life that coincides with one’s real self.
Writer hopes that the artworks incite people to be more considerate of themselves and to develop positive ego through self-care and reflection. People can then impart positive influence to their peers. The characters featured in the artworks alongside the main figure represent the presence of a comforter, encourager, and an advocate. In whatever situation the main figure may encounter, the characters will always be around as supporters. Such characters and balloons vivify the lonesome main figure.
The main figures in each artwork embody the lonely side of life, in which all people walk their own paths. The appearances from behind leave room for viewers to wonder what the main figure may be looking at or thinking. Writer hopes that through the artworks, viewers will have the opportunity to reflect on what their dreams are and whether everything is progressing in the intended manner in their lives.
