작가노트 

​

한옥을 주제로 하여 한국화와 디자인을 융합한 디자인민화를 그렸다. 

​

한옥을 주제로 삼은 이유는 우리나라에서 가장 아름다운 것이 뭐가 있을까 생각했을 때 가장 먼저 떠오른 것이 한옥이었다. 또한 평소에도 한옥을 좋아해 자주 찾아가기도 했기에 한옥을 주제로 정하는 데 있어서 망설임이 없었다. 그것의 아름다움을 내 그림으로 나타내고 싶었고 한국화와 디자인을 섞어서 그려보고 싶었다.

나의 한옥은 화려하지만 가시가 돋은 장미와 같다. 
한옥은 집이기도 하고 일상이기도 하고 기다리는 공간이기도 하다. 화려하지만 어딘가 외로워 보이는 이곳은 하염없이 누군가를, 어떠한 일상을 기다리고 있다. 내 그림에서 한옥 창문에 불이 다 켜져 있는데 그것은 누군가 이곳에 존재하고 있음을 나타낸다.

나의 한옥은 밤도 낮이기를 원한다. 
하루가 끝나면서 생기는 깊은 공허함과 쓸쓸함을 만나기 전에 하루를 붙잡고 싶다.

​

이번 붉은 밤 시리즈는 ‘보내주다’라는 의미를 갖는다.
일상과 욕심, 그리운 과거나 인연, 놓지 못했던 많은 것들을 보내주고자 한다.

​

“만약 그 밤이 낮으로 가고 싶다면 미련 없이 보내주오.”

​

‘붉은 밤’의 내용 중 하나이다.
‘밤’은 ‘낮’으로 갈 수 없다. 하지만 나는 보내주려고 한다. 불가능한 일도 해주고 싶은 마음을 표현하고 싶었다. 

​

‘붉은 밤’은 색감에서 아이디어를 얻었다.

​

내가 생각하기에 붉은 색은 수줍기도 하고 강렬하기도 하면서 아프기도 하다.
이번에 내가 표현하고 싶은 것은 그 모든 뜻과 과정이다.

Artist Statement​

​

I drew a design folk painting that combines Korean painting and design with the theme of Hanok.

 

The reason why I chose hanok as the theme is that it was the first thing that came to mind when I thought about what is the most beautiful thing in Korea. In addition, I often visited Hanok because I liked it, so I had no hesitation in choosing it as a theme. I wanted to express its beauty in my paintings, and I wanted to mix Korean painting and design.

​

My Hanok is colorful but like a rose with thorns.

Hanok is a home, a daily life, and a waiting space. The place, which looks gorgeous but somehow lonely, is waiting for someone or any daily life.In my painting, the windows of Hanok are all lit up, indicating that someone exists here.

 

My Hanok wants night would be day.

I want to hold on to the day before I meet the deep emptiness and loneliness that comes at the end of the day.

 

This "Red Night" series means “let something go.”

I want to let go of my daily life, greed, good old days or fate, and many things I couldn't let go.

 

"If that night wants to go to day, let it go without hesitation."

​

It is one of the contents of 'Red Night'.

‘Night’ can't go ‘day.’But I hope it can go.

I wanted to express my willingness to do such an impossible thing for it.
