나와 내 그림은 가장 솔직한 감정일 때 관계하는 진정한 표출방식 중 하나이다. 나는 작업에 임할 때 솔직한 나의 생각과 감정들을 정리한다. 생각을 정리할 때의 나 자신과 작업을 하는 과정은 서로 가까워지며, 그에 따라 나는 나의 분신과도 같은 작품들을 만들어낸다. 마치 토기장이가 토기를 만들듯, 나도 나의 분신인 그림을 만들고, 창조와 창작의 경계를 질문하며 나를 창조한 절대자의 숭고를 느껴 삶의 대한 안정과 만족을 얻는다. 이러한 감정은 예술행위로 통해 생명이라는 소중함을 알게 한다. 생명의 소중함은 나에게 긍정적인 에너지와 삶에 대한 감정과 정서를 색채로 공감화 할 수 있는 능력을 발휘하여 화면에 색칠할 수 있다.
작업을 할 때 나는 가장 솔직한 감정을 고스란히 담아내는데 이는 순수한 상태라고 볼 수 있다. 순수함이 묻어나는 것을 표현하는 데에서는 색을 사용해 추상그림으로 흘러가게 된다. 마음 속에서 여러 색들이 떠오르곤 할 때, 선택 한 색이 어떠한 연상을 주는지에 대해 항상 고민하고 훈련 받고 있다. 나는 내면세계에 내재된 긍정적 에너지의 추상을 자연 속에서 경험한 색채와 선, 형태, 질감으로 시각화한다. 색채는 각기 다른 감정을 가지고 있어 어떠한 이미지나 연상을 떠올리는데 시각적으로는 대자연의 사물과 정신적으로는 언어를 통해 영감을 받고자 한다.
그림 속 이미지의 영향은 대자연의 색감과 형태의 모습들로 가지고 온다. 또한, 책 속에 들어있는 좋고, 긍정적인 언어들은 이미지 형성에 큰 도움이 된다. 이미지는 마음 속에 새기며, 이것을 자연 속에서 경험한 색채와 선, 질감, 형태 등을 영감 받으며 색면과 추상으로 표현한다. 구체적인 대상인 대자연은 나에게는 숭고이고자 경외함을 일으킨다. 더불어, 추상표현주의의 공간 배치와 극대화한 색면 추상으로 감정을 끌어내는 표현력 영향을 받았기에 다양한 색 공간의 설정을 통해 관람객과의 소통의 창이 될 수 있게 하려 한다. 또한, 색면 추상을 끌어가는 것은 색채와 형태가 주는 힘에 있어 자연이 불러일으키는 숭고의 감정과 흡사한 초월적인 상태를 이끌고자 한다. 자연적 현상이 주는 웅장함과 거대함은 나에겐 큰 경험이고, 영감이 되어 내 작품에 표현되고자 한다.
이미지는 다양한 사이즈의 종이를 캔버스에 콜라주해 회화적 화폭으로 그려낸다. 솔직한 나의 정체성 중 하나를 나타내는 교회 신문지를 수집하여 오리거나 찢어 화면에 부착해 담아낸다. 실제 오브제를 사용하여 나온 이미지는 나의 심상과 일치할 때 큰 만족감을 가져다 준다. 심상에서 나온 색채표현과 다양한 패턴과 액션페인팅으로 원동력과 생명력 있는 에너지를 한 면에 추가하여 한 화면에 풍성한 이미지가 넓히고자 한다.
긍정적인 에너지와 삶의 소중함을 증폭시켜 많은 사람들의 마음을 다양한 색으로 물들이는 작업을 수행하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 그리고 이를 기반으로 본인 작품의 고유한 색을 통해 보이지 않는 신비로운 영성 아름다움의 표현에 대한 가능성을 더욱 넓힐 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다. 나는 내 작품을 통해 어둠 속에서 등불이 되는 마음을 두드리는 따뜻함을 전하고자 한다.
Artist Statement
The main theme of my artworks is expressing honest emotions about sublimity and beauty of the Absolute being, which further lead to pursue my own happiness and satisfaction in life. My paintings are made by my emotions about life that is valuable, and I want the viewers to feel the expression. Thinking of the life that is precious gives a positive energy and thinking, which I identify with those colors to the canvas.
The formation of an aesthetic identity has enabled not only physical maturity, but also self - awareness in abstract thinking ability, emotional insight, and emotional stability. Therefore, I tried to understand, control, and use my expressions and thoughts to live in constant discernment and judgment. Moreover, I was able to draw the color of empathy that can be conveyed through story to my life while pursuing happiness through these abstract thoughts. In other words, through the methodology of expressing the honest story that I have experienced sublimity and beauty in my life with aesthetic using color, the individual inner world is projected again between the person and the color relation.
The image that I have in paintings is inspired by colors and shapes of Mother Nature. There are many hidden interesting images that I want to be influenced to paintings. Also, the positive words are a great help to visualize the exact colors. Lastly, in the works of American Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting have great artists inspire me to maximize the composition and line.
Moreover, in my working process, I use technique relates to collage object methods.
The collage technique through the tearing of newspapers found in my life has brought spiritual therapeutic effects by solving the internal stress of the person and putting artistic color based on emotion.
I actively reflected honest emotions about sublimity and the beauty of the Absolute being and tried to provide therapeutic experience to the viewers who see the works. My work gives a role of ringing the inside of the spectator as a place of communication with the spectator. Through my works, I expect that the aesthetic effects based on honest emotions that I want to pursue will provide psychological stability and happiness to the spectators.
In the future, I will try to transform my personal spiritual and real-life experiences in my art work to something, which shall offer the viewer’s comfort and release stress and frustration. I hope that my work will give them recognition and compensate sufferings of living society.
